Yacht agency services in Saudi Arabia

Hill Robinson’s support in this emerging yachting destination includes a whole host of agency and concierge services.

Until recently, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was closed off to visiting superyachts due to stringent restrictions and a lack of infrastructure. Now, however, the region is positioning itself as an emerging superyacht destination. As well as easing restrictions, there are a series of luxury coastal developments underway and the already operational Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina can accommodate yachts up to 120 metres.

Hill Robinson has been established in the region for over six years, with its second office now open in Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina. As a growing number of yachts are coming to the Kingdom, these captains and owners can make use of Hill Robinson Saudi Arabia’s local expertise and established presence through any of its agency and concierge services.

As Yan Turner, CEO of Hill Robinson Saudi Arabia, explains; “We have a commercial shipping agent licence, as well as the recently introduced yachting agent licence. This allows us to offer typical agency services such as vessel clearances, crew immigration, provisioning, crew transfers and arranging visas.”

Hill Robinson Saudi Arabia also has the infrastructure to access vessels and deliver provisions in the remotest locations of the Red Sea coastline. “We have our own warehouse and numerous support vehicles, including refrigerated, six-wheel drive trucks capable of traversing the desert,” adds Yan.

As such, Hill Robinson Saudi Arabia is poised to support the increasing number of visiting yachts. Saudi Arabia’s high-profile promotion of NEOM’s Sindalah island and AMAALA is generating a lot of interest from the yachting community, and Yan is optimistic for the potential of the region as a superyacht destination.

“NEOM is geographically well placed to attract yachts on their way from the Mediterranean to the Seychelles and Maldives, or on their way back,” he explains. “This will initially attract opportunistic yachts and owners who want to experience the area. If those experiences are positive – which everyone is working towards – they will hopefully end up staying for longer periods.”

There are also year-round events that are attracting the attention of the superyacht fleet. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024, for example, will take place from 7 to 9 March next year, and berths adjacent to the track can be secured in Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina.
