The value of Antigua Charter Yacht Show

Hill Robinson reflects on the 2023 edition of the show and how charter yachts can benefit from attending such events.

Each year, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show attracts a fleet of the most premier charter yachts on the market and the 2023 edition was no different. Held at the beginning of December, around 300 charter brokers, as well as media and industry professionals, had the opportunity to inspect a line-up of 65 stellar charter yachts.

“As a central agent, the show is perfect timing for us to present yachts to brokers for last-minute bookings for the Caribbean season and, more importantly, ahead of the Mediterranean summer,” explains Hill Robinson’s Head of Charter Management Nicolas Fry. “All the brokers at the show were already receiving enquiries for next summer and were utilising the show to select options for their clients.”

With a higher proportion of larger yachts over 60 metres at this year’s Antigua Charter Yacht Show, ensuring each yacht stood out amongst the crowd was paramount for CAs. “Inspections of the larger yachts can at least an hour, so brokers are only able to visit a maximum of five or six yachts per day,” adds Nicolas. “This means they have to be selective about which yachts to visit.”

To motivate more brokers to come on board and experience what the boat has to offer, Nicolas advises creating an appealing schedule of events. “Brokers tend to respond more to personal invitations,” he explains. “Yachts can host all sorts of private events, from brunches, lunches, dinners and parties to yoga sessions and destination seminars.”

Hill Robinson was representing the 47m Royal Huisman sailing yacht HYPERION during the show and hosted a delicious broker’s lunch on the aft deck. HYPERION’s chef also took part in the prestigious chef competition and was commended by the judges for the quality of the food and overall service and atmosphere on board.

In immaculate condition, HYPERION was also a hit with the brokers that visited her. “When brokers step on board, they could immediately feel that the long-standing crew is proud to take care of this classic sailing yacht,” adds Nicolas.
